Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Fighters Table

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in power within the city.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season follow below.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of heroes who will split off from the main group to undertake their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.

Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem out of place, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a intense first encounter with the antagonists.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—used the foes for his own means, entering the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.

Casimir then settled his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires retribution.
  • Kattigan knows the region and advises that it is a hostile place.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • But, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could assist the party access locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the clan.

This means them few options but to head to the northern region in quest for the antagonist.

Future Episodes

From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Seekers and Strategists groups.

Audiences can anticipate learning which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
