Two Detentions Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

This incident caused the temporary closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.

These detentions follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, two women were robbed of their luggage after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was among the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Officers detained a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault near the scene. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of individuals hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.

The assault - an event that authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
