US Forces Targeted a 'Major Plant' in the Venezuelan nation, President Trump Stated Without Providing Details.

Ex-President Donald Trump has stated that US forces hit a "large plant" in the South American country in recent days. However, the ex-leader withheld information about the exact purpose or site of the strike, and there has been no further clarification from his camp.

Vague Comments Made During a Talk Show

"US forces just eliminated – I'm not sure if you saw – they have a big plant, where the ships come from. Recently, we took it out. So we targeted them very hard," Trump reportedly told Republican donor and supermarket owner John Catsimatidis on Friday.

Potential Significance of a Confirmed Strike

If a US military action were to be verified, it would mark the initial land strike since the US Department of Defense initiated a buildup of US military presence in the Caribbean region to halt narco-trafficking operations that the Trump administration claims operate under the direction of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

The initial objective of the military buildup has transformed into a quarantine aimed at disrupting the country's oil exports.

Online Footage and Administration Statements

Trump has for some time warned that US forces are poised to expand the operations by hitting objectives inside Venezuela, a strategy that would in theory require legislative authorization.

Online video posted online on 24 December purportedly showed an explosion said to be from an industrial area in Zulia state. But, the video or the site in question has not been corroborated.

An official from Trump's team allegedly told a news network that the president was referring to a drug facility in his remarks.

Reaction and Ongoing Military Posture

The Maduro government has not commented on the incident the former president described. Furthermore, there have been no corroborating news from Venezuela regarding it.

The buildup of US military in the region – a posture some have termed a maritime "quarantine" – marks the most expansive naval operation of his time in office.

Sources have avoided from describing the action as a blockade, but have confirmed that about 15,000 service members are deployed across the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico, including a carrier strike group, F-35 aircraft, and law enforcement vessels to implement existing sanctions.
